Who? The Glen Ridge Scrip Program is a partnership program between the Alternative Funding Committee of the Board of Education and the Glen Ridge Home & School Association.

Why? Because every time you buy groceries, you could be supporting the Glen Ridge Public Schools. It is the only fundraising program that costs you nothing out of pocket, but rewards the schools with a 5 percent return. If you write a check for $100, you receive $100 in gift cards.

What? Scrip is a plastic gift card from King’s, Shop-Rite, A&P, Stop & Shop and Pathmark offered in a variety of denominations. For every dollar of scrip purchased, the GR schools receive 5% back. That money is used to fund capital improvement projects at each school.

When? Enrollment forms are due monthly, but Scrip is always available for purchase at Home & School meetings and from selected committee members. Twice during the school year, the Glen Ridge Scrip Program also offers a gift card sale from a wide variety of retail outlets.

Where? Once you complete the enclosed enrollment form, mail or hand-deliver it to the BOE office at 12 High Street. Your Scrip order will be available at Forest Avenue, Linden Avenue or Ridgewood Avenue schools during the day or during the evening at the home of a committee member on specified pick-up dates.

Does it work? You bet. Since its inception in 2003, the Glen Ridge Scrip Program has earned more than $60,000. To date, projects funded in whole or in part by scrip include: renovation of the HS bleachers, paving

projects at Linden, Ridgewood and the HS, exterior trim repair and painting at Forest, and the exterior refurbishment of the Ridgewood Avenue Auditorium.

The Fine Print…

How do I reorder scrip? Re-order forms are included when you receive your scrip order and are available at www.glenridge.org. Or, you can set-up your online banking to designate Scrip as a monthly payee.

Can I backpack my check? No. In order to ensure timely delivery of scrip, all checks must go to 12 High Street.

What if I shop at more than one store? You may purchase varying amounts at any of the participating stores, but our minimum order per store is $50.

Do I have to place the same order each month? No. You may change your order from month to month.

Can I have Scrip mailed to me? Scrip can be mailed, however Scrip is like cash and we are not responsible for Scrip lost or stolen in the mail.

How do I use my Scrip? At checkout, you simply present your Scrip, as you would cash. You may continue to use your savings club cards to receive any store discounts. PeaPod and ShopRite On-Line both accept Scrip Gift Cards.

What if my purchase is less than the dollar value of the scrip? Your change will remain on your card until you have used up the face value of the card.

Does scrip have an expiration date? All scrip is valid for one year from purchase.

Can I use my credit or debit card to purchase scrip? No. None of our merchants are registered in a program that would permit this feature while giving us our full 5% return.
